Dance With the Animals DVD

Dance With the Animals DVD

This is a FAVORITE of our grandchildren! It's very interactive and they want to do the motions with the songs. They'll learn lots of preschool concepts.

Katie Cat and her animated friends, Rex Rooster and Freddy Fox, guide young learners through this fun-filled video, providing lots of laughter along the way. Children unleash their imaginations and dance along with real kids on screen while imitating animals from the farm, forest, and zoo.

When originally developing this DVD, we had in mind a video program that would appeal primarily to preschool children, ages 3 through 5. As we began production, we frequently found that the older siblings of preschool children enjoyed these songs and movements too. So, we made certain to feature some older children, around the ages of 6 and 7. (Younger siblings barely age 2 were highly interested as well.

Although we expect most of the audience for this video to be in the preschool range, it is a DVD that parents could easily play at home or in a travel setting for children of different ages to enjoy. Besides fun games where children imitate the sounds and movements that animals make, we've included a lot of really spectacular footage of live animals, many in their natural habitats.

We are finding that preschool teachers, as well as parents, love this video. It's not just something that children watch… it gets them up and participating! It's fun and informative, plus it encourages playful activity.

Recommendations:
Designed for the enjoyment and active 'dance along' participation of children ages 3 to 6, "Dance With The Animals is a superbly produced and presented 45 minute DVD in which young viewers learn about more than sixty different animals and put their own creative imaginations into play by imitating those animals. Combining live action with animation, children not only enjoy the music and dance (which enhances the motor skills associated with creative movement and the cognitive skills of listening and following directions) while learning about animals common to the farm, the forest, and found at the zoo. With a total running time of 44 minutes, this full-color, informative and fun, "Dance With The Animals" will make a wonderfully popular addition to family, preschool, kindergarten, and community library DVD collections for kids.-Midwest Book Review Children's Bookwatch 2006

This DVD grabs the attention of the children instantly. It not only introduces children with many different types of animals, but it also teaches children about different habitats of animals. And the kids love acting out the different animals during the "dances." -Robert R.

"I just had to call and tell you that my granddaughter, who is not yet even two, loves Dance With the Animals. It's been 34 minutes into the video and her eyes have not left the screen. She is doing the movements and making the sounds like the animals. When the kids put their hands up, her hands go up too. She especially likes the little tiny girl. Just had to call and let you know how pleased I am!" -a grandparent who phoned Rock 'N Learn

LYRICS

Animals, Animals

CHORUS:
Animals, animals
Everywhere you go
Some that you have seen before
And some you just don’t know

Animals, animals
Living all around
Up in the air, way over there
And even underground

Some animals live at my house
They are called my pets
I take good care of them
I even take them to the vet

Some animals live on a farm
The farmer cares for them
Sometimes they help the farmer, too
By staying in their pens

Some animals live in the forest
And others live in the zoo
Or the jungle, or even the desert
In lakes and rivers and oceans too

(repeat chorus)

Learn About Pets

A pet is an animal
That lives with you
A special friend
Who is always true

Many different pets
Can be found
To find a pet you like
Just look all around

Dogs can come
In all shapes and sizes
They wag their tails
And do tricks for prizes

Cats have thin whiskers
And tails that are long
They can jump very high
’Cause their muscles are so strong

Parrots are pets
That can learn how to talk
They have pretty feathers
And they sometimes squawk

Fish live in water
And they like to swim
They have lots of scales
And pretty little fins

Land turtles and lizards
Are not like fish
They need just a little water
You can put it in a dish

Gerbils and hamsters
Like to dig in the ground
In their squeaky wheels
They run round and round

Yes, a pet is an animal
That lives with you
A special friend
Who is always true

Pet Care

A pet is an animal
That lives with you
To take good care of it
Here’s a few things you must do

Make sure your pet
Has food to eat
And clean, clear water
Just can’t be beat

You need to clean up
Any mess it’s made
And be sure your cats
And dogs don’t stray

Some pets need
Good exercise
So walk your dog
And have things for cats to climb

Some pets need
Shots from a vet
That’s an animal doctor
Who can help your pet

Yes, pets are animals
That live with you
Take good care of them
And they’ll be good friends too

Pet Sounds Game

Pets can make so many sounds
So many sounds, all kinds
   of sounds
Pets can make so many sounds
Listen to them all around

A doggie barks his
   "bow, wow, wow"
While the little cat says “meow”

   “Bow, wow, wow”
   “Meow, meow”  (repeat)

A parrot can make a giant squawk
and sometimes he can even talk

  “Raaaht, raaaht”
  “Hello, hello”   (repeat)

Fish just swish as they swim
While lizards and turtles look at them

Gerbils and hamsters squeak
     and squeak
While all around their cage
     they sneak

   “Squeak, squeak, squeak”
   “Sneak, sneak, sneak” (repeat)

Pet Parade

Let’s walk in a line today
And show everyone our pet parade

We can be like dogs
And wag our tails
But follow the leader
And stay on the trail
     Wag, wag, wag (repeat)

We’re walking in a line today
To show everyone our pet parade

Let’s clean our face
Just like a cat
Rub your cheek
With a paw like that
     Rub, rub, rub (repeat)

We’re walking in a line today
To show everyone our pet parade

Be like a parrot
And flap your wings

Then nod your head
Like when he swings
     Flap, flap, flap
     Nod, nod, nod

We’re walking in a line today
To show everyone our pet parade

Pucker your lips
Just like a fish
Then move your arms
Like fins with a swish
     Swish, swish, swish (repeat)

We’re walking in a line today
To show everyone our pet parade

Stick out your tongue
And look side to side
Like a lizard does
When a bug he’s spied

     Look side to side
     Side to side

We’re walking in a line today
To show everyone our pet parade

A turtle likes
To take a nap
If he hears a bug
He’ll snap, snap, snap
     Snap, snap, snap (repeat)

We’re walking in a line today
To show everyone our pet parade

Make a sound like a hamster
With a “squeak, squeak, squeak”
Now back to our seats we’ll
Sneak, sneak, sneak
     Squeak, squeak, squeak
     Sneak, sneak, sneak

Farm Animals

Down on the farm
Is where you’ll see
Lots of animals
So come with me

The rooster is a bird
That struts around
While the hens all peck
And scratch the ground

A cow is nice
To give her milk
If you pet her hide
It’s soft like silk

Rollin’ in the mud
The pig gets smelly
Did you ever see
Such a great big belly?

Guess which animals
Are woolly and white
If you guess “sheep”
You are right!

The goat has horns
And shaggy hair
He’ll eat your shoestrings
So you better beware

The horse is sturdy
And fun to ride
Her long, hairy tail
Swishes side to side

The geese are big
And the ducks are small
They waddle and fly and swim
And they have a ball

A donkey has
Such long, long ears
He’s shorter than a horse
Let’s make that clear

The turkey is
A great big bird
His head is red
Haven’t you heard?

Down on the farm
Is where you’ll see
All the animals
You’ve learned with me

Farm Game

Where is the cow who gives milk
    to drink?
I’ll give a little time for you to think
The COW is BESIDE the farmer

The pig enjoys the mud
   that is gooey
Find the pig and then
    say “soo-wee!”
The PIG is IN his pen

Where are the ducks and the
    geese today?
Try to tell me before I say
The DUCKS and GEESE are
    UNDER the bridge

Where is the turkey who’s
    very large?
You can find him if you look hard
The TURKEY is BESIDE the tractor

Where is the rooster who likes
    to crow?
Tell me just as soon as you know
The ROOSTER is ON the fence

Where is the goat with his cute
    little beard?
When you find him let me hear
The GOAT is BESIDE the fence

Where are the sheep with wool
    so white?
You can tell me ’cause you’re bright
The SHEEP are BETWEEN the pig
    and the goat

Where is the horse who is tall
    and strong?
Find her now, but don’t take long
The HORSE is ON the bridge

Where is the donkey with long,
    pointy ears?
Tell me the answer loud and clear
The DONKEY is BESIDE the barn

Where are the hens who scratch
    the ground?
Tell me once you’ve looked around
The HENS are BETWEEN the rooster
    and the cow

The Sound Farm

Let’s go to the Sound Farm
To hear what we can hear
Animals making noises-
That’s music to my ear

Early in the mornin’
As the sun comes around
The rooster crows loudly
To wake you with this sound

The hens all scratch
And peck the ground
They cluck and cluck
Just like this sound

The cow is hungry
For sweet-smelling hay
Her “moo” is low
As you hear her say

The pigs have tails
That curl so tight
They oink and squeal
With all their might

The sound sheep make
Is the next you’ll hear
They go “baa, baa”
It’s loud and clear

Goats butt their heads
Then bleat and bleat
Listen to this sound
It’s really neat

The geese will honk
Then the ducks will quack
Just listen and
You’ll get the knack

The horse will neigh
Then snort her nose
Just say “giddyap”
And off she goes

There’s a little donkey
Whose tail will sway
Just listen now
As he starts to bray

The big ol’ turkey
Is really round
He makes a gobble
For his own sound

We’ve been to the Sound Farm
To hear what we can hear
Animals makin’ noises-
That’s music to my ear

Barnyard Dance

CHORUS:
Gather in a circle
Let’s do a little dance
Like a farm animal
Around the ring we’ll prance

If you flap your wings
And you say “bock, bock”
Then “cluck, cluck, cluck”
That’s the way hens talk

Now strut t’wards the middle
The way the roosters do
Step back and lift your head
And say “cock-a-doodle-doo”

(chorus)

Help the farmer milk the cow
Make your hands move
Then pick up the buckets
And give a big “MOO”

Be just like a pig
In the mud so brown
Then say “oink, oink”
And wallow around

(chorus)

Now the goat bleats “maa”
And the sheep says “baa”
Now turn around
And “baa” and “maa”

Now get up and waddle
And quack like a duck
You’ll get it right
With a little luck

(chorus)

Stretch your neck like a goose
Then let out a honk
Jump in the water
With a big “kerplonk”

Let’s say “neigh, neigh”
Like a horse that’s brown
Gallop round the ring
’Til you’re all the way around

(chorus)

Eat hay like a donkey
Then give a bray
“Hee-haw” is what
The donkeys say

Shake your tail like a turkey
And scratch the ground
Now say “gobble, gobble”
And then sit down

(chorus)

Forest Animals

CHORUS:
Walk through the forest
March to the beat
Here are some creatures
That we might meet

The squirrels climb up and down
The trees without a frown
To gather nuts all day
Sometimes they stop to play

The fox is red, you see
His tail is so bushy
Some people call him sly
But he is really shy

The beaver likes to chew
On trees both old and new
He swims so easily
With his big tail it’s a breeze

The raccoons have a mask
And mischief is their task
They are so curious
It makes us furious
(chorus)

The blue jays like to fly
So high up in the sky
They come back down again
To eat seeds with their friends

Opossums climb the trees
Their tails hang on with ease
They come out in the night
And sleep when it is light

The skunks have long, white stripes
On black they look so bright
But watch out for that tail
You might not like the smell

The rabbits have long ears
It’s so that they can hear
Whenever you get near
They hop away in fear

The owl is a night bird
And “who” is his best word
His eyes are big and wide
As through the air he glides

The deer can run so fast
Soon they will all be past
Their antlers are their horns
And they like to eat corn

The wolf looks like a dog
And hunts while at a jog
He’s wild and must be free
So happy he can be
(chorus)

The eagle has sharp eyes
For catching prey he spies
He’s powerful and strong
His wings are eight feet long

The brown bear likes to fish
To catch one is his wish
In winter he will sleep
When food does not come cheap

It’s fun to watch a frog
Sitting on a log
His tongue can catch a fly
As it is buzzing by

Walk through the forest
March to the beat
We know some creatures
That we might meet

Forest Homes

A blue jay’s nest is small
A blue jay’s nest is high
A blue jay’s nest is found
Almost anywhere but on the ground

An owl lives in a hole
It might be in a tree
He sometimes lines his hole
To keep it safe and warm, not cold

Squirrels live in a tree
They like to have a nest
To store their nuts away
And eat them on another day

A raccoon’s den is warm
A raccoon’s den is safe
Their dens are in a tree
And they poke their heads out
     just to see

Eagles build a nest
That lasts year after year
The nests are in large trees
’Cause they’re bigger than both
     you and me

Deer don’t have a home
They look for food and roam
Over the land they move
To find good water and good food

A fox lives in a den
A hole that’s new or old
Or under a nice bush
With two ways to get out with
     a “whoosh”

A bear’s den is so big
Sometimes it is a cave
A bear sleeps in her den
That blocks out the snow and
     blowing wind

Wolves roam all around
But with their young they stay
In a den until they’re grown
Then they all can hunt and roam

Skunks live underground
They like to dig around
A burrow is their home
But it’s best to leave the skunks alone

Opossums don’t care
They’ll live anywhere
A den or burrow spare
As long as no one else is there

A beaver in a lodge
Has built his home with logs
He gets wet to get inside
But the beaver has waterproof hide

The frog lives in a pond
He croaks out loud ’til dawn
And sleeps in the sun all day
So all night he can jump and play

Forest Frolic

CHORUS:
We do the Forest Frolic
And we stay in time
Watch the creatures in the middle
As we make a rhyme

Put the eagles in the middle
And watch them soar
All around the circle
Let’s see some more

Put the deer in the middle
And watch them leap
Then go back to the circle
Without a peep

Put the raccoons in the middle
With their little black masks
Watch them scamper around
As they do their tasks

Put the blue jays in the middle
Watch them peck the seed
And fly back to the circle
With lots of speed
(chorus)

Put the wolves in the middle
And hear them howl
Go back to the circle
Walk tall and proud

Put the rabbits in the middle
Now wiggle your nose
Jump back to the circle
And touch your toes

Put the beavers in the middle
And watch them gnaw
They can chop down a tree
Without a saw

Put the owls in the middle
And hear them hoot
With their big, wide eyes
They sure look cute
(chorus)

Put the squirrels in the middle
Watch them dig for a nut
When they find one
To the circle they strut

Put the bears in the middle
Watch them catch a fish
Then they look for berries
To eat and squish

Put the frogs in the middle
And watch them jump
Then go back to the circle
With a wet “kerplunk”

Put the opossums in the middle
And watch them climb
They hang upside down
For a very short time
(chorus)

Put the skunks in the middle
Watch them stomp this way
Don’t get too close
Or they’ll give a stinky spray

Put the foxes in the middle
Oh, they are so sly
Now sneak back to the circle
And say good-bye

Zoo Animals

Oh, the zoo is a fun place
Where animals stay
And we’ll see the animals
Eat and play

The lion has a mane
And he is the king
His big, loud roar
Through the zoo will ring

The tiger has stripes
Both orange and black
His belly is white
He’s the largest cat

A leopard is covered
With lots of spots
She hunts at night
By day she sleeps a lot

A cheetah is the fastest
Animal on land
Her long, slender body
Looks really grand

Gorillas are large
Most live on the ground
If you listen for awhile
You might hear this sound

A monkey can swing
With her arms and tail
In the trees she’ll stay
Can you hear her wail?

The smart chimpanzee
Has fur that is black
He uses sticks
To get a snack

An ostrich has
Two large, round eyes
He stands so tall
But he cannot fly

A peacock is
The peafowl male
He’s beautiful when
He spreads his tail

Flamingos like
To wade around
They can eat underwater
And upside down

Alligators swim
With toothy smiles
But their noses are shorter
Than a crocodile's

Snakes have no legs
To move around
But they hiss and slither
Upon the ground

An iguana is
A great big lizard
Who likes the sun
More than a blizzard

The walrus has
Two long, white tusks
To stir up clams,
Climb out, or fuss

A sea lion knows
How to get around
Both in the water
And on the ground

She can balance a ball
Upon her nose
Clap her flippers
Then off she goes

Penguins use
Their wings to swim
They’re black and white
Just look at them

The platypus
Looks very strange
Like a duck and a beaver
All rearranged

Koalas’ ears
Are fringed with white
They eat eucalyptus
That’s what they like

The kangaroo carries
Her young in a pouch
Look at her baby
He’s peeking out

The panda likes
To eat bamboo
She’s black and white
And likes it cool.

A polar bear
Has fur that’s white
He’s hard to see
In snow that’s bright

The giraffe is
Tall and spotted too
His tongue is long
And sticky-oooo

Camels have
One hump or two
I’d like to ride one
Wouldn’t you?

A zebra has
A lot of stripes
Now some are black
And some are white

An elephant has
A long, gray trunk
She sucks up water
That’s sprayed or drunk

She has two tusks
And skin that’s gray
Her great big ears
Can wiggle and sway

A rhinoceros has
Horns on his snout
And three toes on each foot
To walk about

A hippopotamus
Eats in the water
And even her young
Nurse underwater

Yes, the zoo is a fun place
Where animals stay
We’ve seen many animals
Here today

Safari Line

CHORUS:
In a safari line
We’ll travel around
Moving like animals
And making their sounds

We can roar like a lion
Loud and clear
Or run so fast like a cheetah
Without fear

We can squeal like a chimp
And pretend to swing
Or beat our chests like gorillas
Who act like kings
(chorus)

We can stand on one foot
Like a flamingo
Then strut like a peacock
Walking to and fro

Put your arms in front of your face
Make an alligator’s mouth
Then open and close it
Like they do down South
(chorus)

Bark like a sea lion
And balance a ball
Then waddle like a penguin
Standing straight and tall

We can walk like a panda
Down on all fours
Then swim like a polar bear
From way up North
(chorus)

Hop like a kangaroo
To make me laugh
Then stretch your neck
Like a tall giraffe

We can use our arms
To make a trunk
Sway it back and forth
Like an elephant

In a safari line
We travelled around
We moved like animals
And we made their sounds
