Cats have thin whiskers
And tails that are long
They can jump very high
’Cause their muscles are so strong

Parrots are pets
That can learn how to talk
They have pretty feathers
And they sometimes squawk

Fish live in water
And they like to swim
They have lots of scales
And pretty little fins

Land turtles and lizards
Are not like fish
They need just a little water
You can put it in a dish

Gerbils and hamsters
Like to dig in the ground
In their squeaky wheels
They run round and round

Yes, a pet is an animal
That lives with you
A special friend
Who is always true

You need to clean up
Any mess it’s made
And be sure your cats
And dogs don’t stray

Some pets need
Good exercise
So walk your dog
And have things for cats to climb

Some pets need
Shots from a vet
That’s an animal doctor
Who can help your pet

Yes, pets are animals
That live with you
Take good care of them
And they’ll be good friends too

A parrot can make a giant squawk
     and sometimes he can even talk

Fish just swish as they swim
While lizards and turtles look at them

The goat has horns
And shaggy hair
He’ll eat your shoestrings
So you better beware

The horse is sturdy
And fun to ride
Her long, hairy tail
Swishes side to side

The geese are big
And the ducks are small
They waddle and fly and swim
And they have a ball

A donkey has
Such long, long ears
He’s shorter than a horse
Let’s make that clear

The turkey is
A great big bird
His head is red
Haven’t you heard?

Down on the farm
Is where you’ll see
All the animals
You’ve learned with me

Where is the rooster who likes
    to crow?
Tell me just as soon as you know
The ROOSTER is ON the fence

Where is the goat with his cute
    little beard?
When you find him let me hear
The GOAT is BESIDE the fence

Where are the sheep with wool
    so white?
You can tell me ’cause you’re bright
The SHEEP are BETWEEN the pig
    and the goat

Where is the horse who is tall
    and strong?
Find her now, but don’t take long
The HORSE is ON the bridge

Where is the donkey with long, 
    pointy ears?
Tell me the answer loud and clear
The DONKEY is BESIDE the barn

Where are the hens who scratch
    the ground?
Tell me once you’ve looked around
The HENS are BETWEEN the rooster
    and the cow

The pigs have tails
That curl so tight
They oink and squeal
With all their might

The sound sheep make
Is the next you’ll hear
They go “baa, baa”
It’s loud and clear

Goats butt their heads
Then bleat and bleat
Listen to this sound
It’s really neat

The geese will honk
Then the ducks will quack
Just listen and
You’ll get the knack

The horse will neigh
Then snort her nose
Just say “giddyap”
And off she goes

There’s a little donkey
Whose tail will sway
Just listen now
As he starts to bray

The big ol’ turkey
Is really round
He makes a gobble
For his own sound

We’ve been to the Sound Farm
To hear what we can hear
Animals makin’ noises-
That’s music to my ear

Be just like a pig
In the mud so brown
Then say “oink, oink”
And wallow around

Now the goat bleats “maa”
And the sheep says “baa”
Now turn around
And “baa” and “maa”

Now get up and waddle
And quack like a duck
You’ll get it right
With a little luck

Stretch your neck like a goose
Then let out a honk
Jump in the water
With a big “kerplonk”

Let’s say “neigh, neigh”
Like a horse that’s brown
Gallop round the ring
’Til you’re all the way around

Eat hay like a donkey

“Hee-haw” is what
The donkeys say

Shake your tail like a turkey
And scratch the ground
Now say “gobble, gobble”

Opossums climb the trees
Their tails hang on with ease
They come out in the night
And sleep when it is light

The skunks have long, white stripes
On black they look so bright
But watch out for that tail
You might not like the smell

The rabbits have long ears
It’s so that they can hear
Whenever you get near
They hop away in fear

The owl is a night bird
And “who” is his best word
His eyes are big and wide
As through the air he glides

The deer can run so fast
Soon they will all be past
Their antlers are their horns
And they like to eat corn

The wolf looks like a dog
And hunts while at a jog
He’s wild and must be free
So happy he can be

The eagle has sharp eyes
For catching prey he spies
He’s powerful and strong
His wings are eight feet long

The brown bear likes to fish
To catch one is his wish
In winter he will sleep
When food does not come cheap

It’s fun to watch a frog
Sitting on a log
His tongue can catch a fly
As it is buzzing by

Walk through the forest
March to the beat
We know some creatures
That we might meet

Deer don’t have a home
They look for food and roam
Over the land they move
To find good water and good food

A fox lives in a den
A hole that’s new or old
Or under a nice bush
With two ways to get out with
     a “whoosh”

A bear’s den is so big
Sometimes it is a cave
A bear sleeps in her den
That blocks out the snow and
     blowing wind

Wolves roam all around
But with their young they stay
In a den until they’re grown
Then they all can hunt and roam

Skunks live underground
They like to dig around
A burrow is their home
But it’s best to leave the skunks alone

Opossums don’t care
They’ll live anywhere
A den or burrow spare
As long as no one else is there

A beaver in a lodge
Has built his home with logs
He gets wet to get inside
But the beaver has waterproof hide

The frog lives in a pond
He croaks out loud ’til dawn
And sleeps in the sun all day
So all night he can jump and play

Put the wolves in the middle
And hear them howl
Go back to the circle
Walk tall and proud

Put the rabbits in the middle
Now wiggle your nose
Jump back to the circle
And touch your toes

Put the beavers in the middle
And watch them gnaw
They can chop down a tree
Without a saw

Put the owls in the middle
And hear them hoot
With their big, wide eyes
They sure look cute

Put the squirrels in the middle
Watch them dig for a nut
When they find one
To the circle they strut

Put the bears in the middle
Watch them catch a fish
Then they look for berries
To eat and squish

Put the frogs in the middle
And watch them jump
Then go back to the circle
With a wet “kerplunk”

Put the opossums in the middle
And watch them climb
They hang upside down
For a very short time

Put the skunks in the middle
Watch them stomp this way
Don’t get too close
Or they’ll give a stinky spray

Put the foxes in the middle
Oh, they are so sly
Now sneak back to the circle
And say good-bye

Alligators swim
With toothy smiles
But their noses are shorter
Than a crocodile's

Snakes have no legs
To move around
But they hiss and slither
Upon the ground

An iguana is
A great big lizard
Who likes the sun
More than a blizzard

The walrus has
Two long, white tusks
To stir up clams,
Climb out, or fuss

A sea lion knows
How to get around
Both in the water
And on the ground

She can balance a ball
Upon her nose
Clap her flippers
Then off she goes

Penguins use
Their wings to swim
They’re black and white
Just look at them

The platypus
Looks very strange
Like a duck and a beaver
All rearranged

Koalas’ ears
Are fringed with white
They eat eucalyptus
That’s what they like

The kangaroo carries
Her young in a pouch
Look at her baby
He’s peeking out

The panda likes
To eat bamboo
She’s black and white
And likes it cool.

A polar bear
Has fur that’s white
He’s hard to see
In snow that’s bright

The giraffe is
Tall and spotted too
His tongue is long
And sticky-oooo

Camels have
One hump or two
I’d like to ride one
Wouldn’t you?

A zebra has
A lot of stripes
Now some are black
And some are white

An elephant has
A long, gray trunk
She sucks up water
That’s sprayed or drunk

She has two tusks
And skin that’s gray
Her great big ears
Can wiggle and sway

A rhinoceros has
Horns on his snout
And three toes on each foot
To walk about

A hippopotamus           
Eats in the water
And even her young
Nurse underwater

Yes, the zoo is a fun place
Where animals stay
We’ve seen many animals
Here today

Put your arms in front of your face
Make an alligator’s mouth
Then open and close it
Like they do down South

Bark like a sea lion
And balance a ball
Then waddle like a penguin
Standing straight and tall

We can walk like a panda
Down on all fours
Then swim like a polar bear
From way up North

Hop like a kangaroo
To make me laugh
Then stretch your neck

We can use our arms
To make a trunk
Sway it back and forth
Like an elephant

In a safari line
We travelled around
We moved like animals
