Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe Adapted from the original version Narrated by Ben Cummings
Daniel Defoes famous novel, fully titled "The Life and Strange Surprising Adventures of Robinson Crusoe of York, Mariner", was written in 1719. Based on the actual experiences of Alexander Selkirk, a marooned sailor, it tells of Robinson Crusoe, a young Englishman, who disregards his fathers advice and runs off to sea to seek his fortune.
After various adventures, he suffers a shipwreck and is cast ashore on a deserted island, where he spends many years alone. Eventually he rescues an Indian from cannibals who invade his island, and names his companion "Friday".
Nancy Woolnough adapted this thrilling story from an original, unabridged version, brought over from England by her mother when she emigrated to America. More than an adventure, ROBINSON CRUSOE is a spiritual biography, depicting mans turning to God in the midst of hardship and despair.
In addition to enjoying this adventure classic appreciated by both adults and children, you will find it to be a spiritual challenge as you realize how the trials of life brought the hero to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
(narrated by Ben Cummings, approx. 2.5 hours) CD format, $12.95
